What are Tieks?
Tieks are ballet flat shoes. The author of the article bought her first pair in April of 2016, for $175 each. Her first pair were Matte Black. Next, she bought Pacific Green. Then, she returned to Matte Black. She purchased Midnight Blue, which she wore at her wedding. As of 2019, the author has purchased her fifth shoe – Tyrian Purple.
These shoes come in four different styles; Classics, Prints, Patents, and Vegan. There are also Mini Tieks, for young girls. It appears these shoes are nonelastic material. The shoe company does not make half sized shoes, and come in women’s sizes five through thirteen. To compensate for the lack of half sizing, the author recommends considering which foot is bigger than the other, and decide if that bigger foot feels cramped or loose in the shoe. If it feels cramped, go up a size. If it feels loose, go down a size. The author says Tieks shoes are very comfortable, and you will not feel the stretch of the leather for at least two to three months. She says she has never lost any of her shoes due to stretching.
The author also states that she personally has not dealt with foot sweat or odor from her shoes. These are a relatively breathable shoe. She suggests washing them, or using low cut socks with your shoes. These are excellent quality shoes to walk in extensively; the author walks around one and a half million steps per year, and only scuffs her shoes and the heels due to a walking quirk. Overall, while the shoes can be rather expensive – Tieks can only be purchased via their online store, the Boutiek. Once there you can choose one of the aforementioned styles and expect the price tag to range between $175-$300, (but free shipping in the US!) but the quality outweighs the price. You have four different types of shoes to choose from, hundreds of designs, a cruelty-free option for vegans, and these shoes are lightweight and easy to travel with.
